The Pets
Nicky
Breed: German Shepherd and Siberian Husky
Gender: Male
Nicky lived his whole life in a makeshift tent outside in a filthy backyard. He was fed rotting food and had green water, according to the animal control offer that found him and took him. His front teeth are ground down due to excessive chewing probably from trying to eat things he shouldn't. His other teeth are white. Nicky is sweet as sweet gets. He adores going for walks and walks well on leash. He is living with a family with numerous other dogs and small children. The foster mom says he is very easy to care for, follows her around the house and sleeps by her feet. The doctor estimates that Nicky is somewhere between 7-10 years old. Nicky deserves a life of love, happiness, a warm and cushy bed and people that won't discard him or forget about him.

Felix
Breed: Boston Terrier/Beagle Mix
Gender: Male
Felix, the day he was rescued Felix, 1 week laterFelix was rescued on a Humane Investigation in Lake County after a report of a skinny dog being left outside all day and night. Felix was found tied outside without proper shelter and with no food and water. His only place to sleep was on a pile of rotting cardboard boxes. He was severely dehydrated and emaciated. His body was nothing more than a skeleton with fur. On the day we rescued him, Felix weighed a mere 16 pounds (almost HALF of what he should weigh). Despite his cruel neglect, Felix is a very affectionate dog. He craves human attention and fluffy things to lay on... things he has rarely (if ever) had. We have given him the name "Felix" which means happy, lucky and fortunate... and he truly is as of this day forward. Felix is currently in a foster home finally getting the care and compassion he has desperately needed for so long. Please consider making a donation in honor of Felix. We need your help to continue providing our much-needed services to the community. UPDATE: 11/6/2008 Exactly 1 week after being rescued, Felix has gained 4.8 pounds (30% of his original body weight). He went from an emaciated 16 pounds to 20.8 pounds... in 1 week. After persistent claims from his former owners that they were feeding him copious amounts of food and were baffled as to why he was staying so thin... the facts speak for themselves. It astounds me how someone can tie up a dog to the side of their house and leave him out there to die. Whether they simply found it too difficult to "remember" to feed him or they did it on purpose will remain a mystery. Fortunately for Felix, a concerned citizen called our Humane Investigation team asking us to check on him. I am deeply grateful to that person for taking the time to call because Felix couldn't have survived out there much longer. If you think you see animal cruelty or neglect, please contact your local rescue, animal control or police department. These animals have no one to speak for them but you.

Harriette
Breed: Domestic Long Hair
Gender: Female
Harriette is a very sweet cat who has had a bit of bad luck in her life. A concerned citizen reported a cat who appeared to have a broken leg roaming the neighborhood. Harriette was rescued and examined by our veterinarian who determined she had neurological damage to her leg and it needed to be amputated. We are desperately in need of funds to help pay for this surgery. We rely solely on donations from the public to continue helping these animals in need. Please consider donating to help with Harriette's medical bills. Harriette is also in need of a forever home. She is getting along fine without her front leg. It's as if she doesn't even miss it. Her surgery was a success. It will take a special person to adopt this special kitty. She deserves to have a good home to call her own. Won't you consider adopting this sweet girl?

Emma

The woman did not realize how hard it would be to take care of a puppy and decided to give her up. She was very well cared for in her home. Emma is a very sweet and playful pup. Because she is under six months old and she could jump on or nip at a small child she'd be best in a home without small children.

Adante (PLEASE HELP!)
Breed: American Pit Bull Terrier
Gender: Male
****Attention: This is a courtesy listing for Bombshell Bullie Rescue**** Please contact them for adoption and any questions you may have. Email: bombshellbullies@hotmail.com Website: www.bombshellbullies.com Phone: 630-336-0458 Adante will break your heart when you hear his story. He has been in rescue for four years sitting in a kennel. Another dog who got lost in the shuffle and doesn’t understand why his family has come to adopt him. Four years ago he was picked up by animal control and sent off to be euthanized, he was given a sedative before he was set to be put to sleep but the animal control officer had second thoughts and drove back and got there just in time. He has been down a long road and is still in love with everyone he meets. Before he came into rescue he was teased mercifully by the children next door , they taunted him, threw rocks and he was tied up so there is nothing you can do. He has been the “pappa” figure to all of the other dogs that come into rescue. He loves to play ball and go for car rides. He carries his stuffed animal every where he goes. He may be already five years old, but he still has a lot of love to give and will make some one a awesome companion. It’s best he goes to a house with no children its been hard for him to get past what the other children he has done to him. Will you give Adante a chance to get out of the kennel and actually be able to sleep in a house?

Saki
Breed: Pit Bull Terrier
Gender: Female
***This is a courtesy listing for Bombshell Bullie Rescue*** Please contact them for adoption and any questions you may have. Email bombshellbullies@hotmail.com Website www.bombshellbullies.com Phone 630-336-0458. Saki has been waiting to be adopted for four years. There is absolutely no reason why this poor girl can’t have a real family to call her own. She has been lost in the shuffle and has been over looked because of the younger and “prettier” dogs. She is completely house broken, loves to snuggle, and occasionally take a swim in the baby pool. She has been an only dog for so long it’s best she is adopted as an only child. She is great with children and everyone she who wants to meet her Saki was adopted out for a short time, but then her young owner hit hard times and gave her up. And so Saki's heart was broken a second time. This time, we're determined: Saki's going to get the best home ever. PLEASE, please open your heart...and give this exceptional lady a second look.

Maddie
Breed: American Pit Bull Terrier
Gender: Female
Maddie was rescued with her 6 babies by AEAR Humane Investigators. They were very underweight, sick and living in terrible conditions. Maddie, only a baby pup herself, is now looking for a forever home to call her own. She is a very sweet people-oriented girl that craves attention. Maddie is a snuggle-bunny who thinks she's a lap-dog. She is not hyperactive. Her favorite thing is to crawl in your lap (as much as possible) and fall asleep. Maddie is good with dogs and kids. She's not fond of cats, though. Maddie doesn't like to be crated. Ideally she would be best in a home where someone isn't gone all day long. She could easily go to work with someone or be the perfect dog to hang out in your home office.

Rudy
Breed: Dachshund
Gender: Male
Rudy is a very special purebred dachshund looking for a special forever family. He is 6-years-old and was relinquished by his owners who could no longer care for him. Rudy got an eye injury that necessitated the removal of his left eye. At the time this was being treated he was also diagnosed with dry eye (no tear production) in his right eye. This hasn’t slowed Rudy down one bit! He will need eye medicine for the rest of his life, twice a day. The medicine is estimated to cost $100 - $150/year. Rudy is a funny, loving and loyal dog. The best spot for him would include: being the only dog or living with one other small dog, having a fenced back yard where he can explore on his own and/or going for daily walks on leash, living with adults or adults with older children, being allowed to snuggle and sleep in a human bed at night"but any application will be reviewed. His foster mom is always willing to be in touch with anyone interested in more information.

Clyde
Breed: Border Collie Mix
Gender: Male
Clyde is a four-year-old border collie mix. He is very sweet and loyal once you get to know him. He is shy with new people. He had a rough start living as a stray in the city being fed by a woman who claimed "he wasn't hers" yet he came and went from her backyard as he saw fit and was fed by her. We were also told by numerous neighbor kids that she beat him with sticks and brooms. He was taken by our humane investigators. He is now neutered, up-to-date on shots, heartworm tested, given frontline and heartguard and lives with dogs, cats and a family. He needs a patient, loving family that understands border collie behavior, some of which is jumping fences and being leery of strangers. He would do best in a quiet home without lots of people coming and going.
